Sidney Walter Smith was a New Zealand politician of the National Party, born 20 January 1893 in Ashburton and died 26 August 1981 in Auckland, who represented the Bay of Islands electorate from 1943 to 1946 and the Hobson electorate from 1946 to 1960. He served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Agriculture and Marketing from 1949 to 1954 under Prime Minister Sidney Holland, then as Minister of Internal Affairs and Minister of Forests from 1954, adding the Agriculture portfolio itself from 26 September 1957 until his retirement from Parliament in 1960, and later served on the ASB Bank board, eventually as its president.
