Keith Holyoake

Sir Keith Jacka Holyoake was a New Zealand politician of the National Party, born 11 February 1904 in Mangamutu and died 8 December 1983 in Wellington, who served as Minister of Agriculture for eight years in the First National Government, from 13 December 1949 to 26 September 1957, while concurrently serving as the first person formally appointed Deputy Prime Minister. He went on to serve two terms as the twenty-sixth Prime Minister of New Zealand, briefly in 1957 and again from 1960 to 1972, later becoming Minister of Foreign Affairs and the thirteenth Governor-General of New Zealand from 1977 to 1980, the only New Zealand politician to have held both the premiership and the governor-generalship.
