James Gillespie Barclay was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party, born 24 June 1882 in Pigeon Bay, Banks Peninsula, and died 5 October 1972 in Christchurch, who represented Marsden in Parliament from 1935 to 1943. He served as Minister of Agriculture from 21 January 1941 to 18 October 1943 in the First Labour Government under Peter Fraser during the Second World War, concurrently holding the Marketing, Lands and State Forests portfolios, and afterward served as High Commissioner to Australia from 1944 to 1950.
