David Jones was a New Zealand farmer and Reform Party politician, born 9 November 1873 in Templeton, Canterbury, and died 23 September 1941 in Wadestown, Wellington, who represented a succession of Canterbury seats, Kaiapoi, Ellesmere and Mid-Canterbury, between 1919 and 1931. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Mines from 22 September 1931 to 8 January 1932, losing his own parliamentary seat in the December 1931 election while still in cabinet, and is remembered chiefly as the inaugural chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board from 1922 and a founder of the New Zealand Farmers Union.
