Jerry Skinner

Clarence Farrington Skinner, known as Jerry Skinner, was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party, born 19 January 1900 in Melbourne, Australia, and died 26 April 1962 in Takaka, who represented the Motueka and later Buller electorates in Parliament for 24 years, from 1938 to 1962. He served as Minister of Lands, Rehabilitation, Valuation and State Forests in the First Labour Government from 1943 to 1949, then as the third Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1957 to 1960 while holding the Agriculture and Lands portfolios in the Second Labour Government. A decorated soldier, he was awarded the Military Cross in 1943 for mine-clearing operations during the Second World War.
