Thomas Laird Kennedy was a Canadian farmer and politician who served two separate terms as Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, from 1930 to 1934 and again from 1943 to 1953, and briefly as the fifteenth Premier of Ontario from October 1948 to May 1949. First elected as the Conservative member for Peel in 1919 after service in the First World War, he stepped in as premier after sitting premier George Drew failed to win a seat in the 1948 election, holding the post until Leslie Frost was chosen party leader. He became known to the public as "Mr. Ontario" and "Old Man Ontario" in recognition of his long years of service to the province's agricultural policy and government.
