Alvin Hamilton

Francis Alvin George Hamilton was a Canadian politician, born 30 March 1912 and died 29 June 2004, who led the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan from 1949 until his election to the House of Commons in 1957, the election that brought John Diefenbaker's federal Progressive Conservative party to power. He served as Minister of Northern Affairs and National Resources from 1957 to 1960, promoting a new vision of northern development, then as Minister of Agriculture from 11 October 1960 to 22 April 1963, where he promoted wheat sales to China.
