Thomas Young Duncan

Thomas Young Duncan, sometimes called "Tam Duncan," was an Irish-born New Zealand politician of the Liberal Party, born 1836 in Plumbridge, County Tyrone, and died 18 August 1914 in New Zealand, who worked on the Victoria and Central Otago goldfields before becoming a farmer at Pukeuri, north of Oamaru. He represented Waitaki from 1881 and Oamaru from 1890 in a thirty-year parliamentary career, serving as Minister of Agriculture under Premier Richard Seddon from 2 July 1900 to 6 August 1906, before ending his career as a Legislative Councillor from 1912 until his death.
