Lukas Brader

Lukas Brader is a Dutch entomologist who served as the fifth Director General of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, from 1990 to 2001, an eleven-year tenure immediately preceding that of Nteranya Sanginga. After his IITA directorship he became Director of the Plant Production and Protection Division at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the same division Mahmoud Solh would later lead before taking the helm of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, ICARDA. His career connected two of the CGIAR system's Africa-focused research centers to the FAO's own global plant protection work across more than three decades in international agricultural research.
