Louis Mermaz was a French Socialist politician, born 20 August 1931 and died 15 August 2024, who served as President of the National Assembly from 1981 to 1986 and as Minister of Transport in 1981 and again in 1988. He served as Minister of Agriculture from 1990 to 1992, and later as government spokesperson from 1992 to 1993.
