Jose Luis Alvarez Alvarez was a Spanish notary and politician who served as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from December 1981 to October 1982, in the final government of Spain's Union of the Democratic Centre (UCD) era. Before taking the agriculture portfolio he had served as mayor of Madrid and as Minister of Transport and Communications, and he later sat in the Cortes Generales as a deputy for Madrid. Trained as a notary, he moved between the UCD, the Democratic People's Party and the Popular Alliance, the forerunner of the Popular Party, and was later elected to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He lived from 1930 to 2023.
