Jose Enrique Martinez Genique was a Spanish economist and politician who served as Minister of Agriculture from July 1977 to February 1978, in the first government elected after Spain's return to democracy. A member of the Union of the Democratic Centre (UCD), he trained as an economist and worked for years as a tax inspector in Spain's Ministry of Finance before moving into agricultural administration, including as president of the state fund that regulated agricultural prices and supplies. He later served as Secretary of State for Consumer Affairs. He was born in Avila in 1935.
