Hermann Hocherl was a German politician of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria, born 31 March 1912 in Brennberg and died 18 May 1989 in Regensburg, elected to the Bundestag for the Regensburg district in 1953 and retaining his seat until 1976. He served as Federal Minister of the Interior from 1961 to 1965 under Adenauer and Erhard, a tenure marked by controversy over a 1963 bugging affair at the federal domestic intelligence agency, before leading the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests from 1965 to 1969 in Kurt Georg Kiesinger's grand coalition cabinet.
