Giuseppe Medici was an Italian economist and Christian Democracy politician from Sassuolo who built an academic career teaching agricultural economics before entering the Senate, where he represented his home region for twenty eight years from 1948 to 1976. He served as Minister of Agriculture from January 1954 to July 1955 under the governments of Amintore Fanfani and Mario Scelba, promoting legislation to protect typical Italian agricultural products and to advance land reform. He went on to hold several other cabinet posts over his long career, including the Treasury, Public Instruction and, twice, Foreign Affairs, bringing an economist's outlook to each portfolio he held.
