Giovanni Marcora was an Italian Christian Democracy politician and businessman who fought in the Italian resistance during the Second World War under the nom de guerre Albertino, taking part in the fighting that liberated Milan in April 1945. He served as Minister of Agriculture from 1974 to 1980, one of the longest tenures in the postwar history of the portfolio, and later briefly held the Trade and Industry ministry from 1981 to 1982. He was also a senator representing Vimercate from 1968 and served multiple terms as mayor of his hometown, Inveruno, where he died of cancer in 1983.
