Gianni Fontana, born Giovanni Angelo Fontana in Verona, was an Italian Christian Democracy politician and lawyer who entered parliament in 1972 at the age of 28 and served as a deputy and later senator through the 1980s and early 1990s. After holding undersecretary posts in public works and transport, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Forests in June 1992 under Prime Minister Giuliano Amato, resigning the post in March 1993, and left parliament the following year. He later returned to public life in 2012 as secretary of a reconstituted Christian Democracy party, serving until 2020.
