Bjorn Engholm is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party, born 9 November 1939 in Lubeck-Moisling, who served as Federal Minister for Education and Science from 1981 to 1982 and then briefly as Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forests for fourteen days in 1982, between Josef Ertl's two terms. He became far more prominent afterward as Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein from 1988, where the Social Democrats won 54.2 percent of the vote, and as national SPD chairman from 1991 to 1993, resigning that year after discrepancies surfaced in the testimony he gave concerning the Barschel affair.
