Athos Valsecchi was an Italian Christian Democracy politician, a deputy and later senator from 1948, who served as Minister of Agriculture and Forests from December 1968 to August 1969 under Prime Minister Mariano Rumor. He went on to hold the Posts and Telecommunications, Health and Finance portfolios, and it was as Finance Minister in the 1970s that he had his most lasting impact, implementing Italy's major tax reform and the introduction of value added tax.
