Ignaz Kiechle

Ignaz Kiechle was a German politician of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria, born 23 February 1930 and died 2 December 2003, both in Kempten im Allgau, who ran his family's farm from 1959 to 1968 before a Bundestag career from 1969 to 1994. He served as Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Forestry from 1983 to 1993 across the Second, Third and Fourth Kohl cabinets, a tenure spanning German reunification, before leaving office in January 1993 for health reasons and being succeeded by Jochen Borchert.
