Heinrich Lubke

Karl Heinrich Lubke was a German politician, born 14 October 1894 and died 6 April 1972, who served as Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Forestry from 1953 to 1959 under Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, succeeding Wilhelm Niklas and managing agricultural policy during West Germany's reconstruction. He went on to serve as President of West Germany from 1959 to 1969, a presidency later marked by public gaffes attributed to declining health and by allegations concerning his involvement in Nazi-era building projects, which he dismissed as propaganda; he resigned three months before his second term ended, citing arteriosclerosis.
