Cem Ozdemir is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens, born 21 December 1965, who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009 and co-chaired the Greens nationally from 2008 to 2018, helping secure the Bundestag's 2016 recognition of the Armenian genocide. He served as Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture from 8 December 2021 to 6 May 2025 under Chancellor Olaf Scholz, additionally holding the Education and Research portfolio in his final months in office and becoming the first German federal minister of Circassian descent, before becoming Minister-President of Baden-Wurttemberg in May 2026, the first person of Turkish background to hold that office.
