Wilhelm Niklas was a German veterinarian and academic, born 24 September 1887 in Traunstein, Bavaria, and died 12 April 1957 in Munich, who served as the first Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Forestry in Konrad Adenauer's first cabinet. He held the post from 20 September 1949 to 20 October 1953, establishing the ministry that would guide West Germany's agricultural policy through its postwar reconstruction, and was succeeded in the role by Heinrich Lubke.
