John Williams Mellor

John Williams Mellor, born 1928, is a French-born American economist specializing in economic and agricultural development. He served as chief economist at the United States Agency for International Development in 1976 and as the second director-general of the International Food Policy Research Institute from 1977 to 1990, and he received the Wihuri International Prize in 1985 for work promoting nutrient security. He spent most of his academic career at Cornell University, his alma mater, and later founded John Mellor Associates.
