Assaf Sheep

The Assaf is a breed of sheep developed in Israel by crossing the Awassi with the East Friesian, combining the Awassi's hardiness with the East Friesian's higher milk yield. Both sexes are white and unicolored, with a white face and white wool, and the breed is raised as a dual-purpose animal for both milk and meat. It is kept in Israel, including the south Hebron area, and has spread to sheep dairies elsewhere for its combination of yield and meat production.
