Morada Nova Sheep

The Morada Nova is a Brazilian breed of hair sheep that originated in Ceara state in Brazil's Nordeste region and descends from the Brazilian Woolless breed. Both rams and ewes are naturally polled, and the breed comes in a solid red or white coat, with rams weighing about 40 kg and ewes about 30 kg at maturity. Raised chiefly for meat and hide, the Morada Nova is well adapted to the varied climate of the sertao and can forage in the caatinga scrub, and it shows notable resilience to parasitic infection along with strong postpartum reproductive recovery.
