A South African breed of domestic sheep developed by crossing the Dorset Horn with the Blackhead Persian sheep. The breed was created through the efforts of the South African Department of Agriculture to produce a meat sheep suited to the more arid regions of the country, and while it is now farmed elsewhere as well, it remains the second most common sheep breed in South Africa.
