Damani Sheep

The Damani is a thin-tailed breed of sheep raised for both meat and wool in the Dera Ismail Khan district and part of Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. It carries a white body coat with a black or tan head and camel-colored legs, stands small to medium in size, and yields about 1.5 kg of coarse wool per animal at roughly 44 micrometres fiber diameter; mature rams reach about 61 cm at the shoulder and 32 kg, while ewes reach about 53 cm and 27 kg. The breed's recorded population fell from over one million in 1986 to about 600,000 by 2006, a marked decline over two decades.
