Clun Forest Sheep

The Clun Forest is a British upland sheep breed originating in the area surrounding the Clun Forest in Shropshire, England. It is hardy, adaptable and long-lived, with a narrow, wool-free dark brown face, upright ears, a muscular build, no horns and a white fleece; rams weigh about 91 kilograms and ewes about 68 kilograms. Kept for meat, wool and milk, it produces quality lamb and mutton alongside wool free of black or kempy fibers and suitable for handspinning, and its ewes are noted for producing some of the highest butterfat of any sheep breed milk, making them valued both for crossing with dairy breeds and for cheesemaking.
