Minor and Specialty Livestock Species

Farmed species outside the major livestock groups, matching FAO and DAD-IS own residual "other species" class: the guinea pig, raised for meat in the Andes; the domestic silkworm and its eri silkworm relative, raised for silk; the western honey bee, kept for honey and pollination; and the common carp, farmed in aquaculture. Belongs here: a farmed animal species that does not fit cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, equines, poultry, camelids or rabbits, however small its current scale in this atlas. Does not belong here: a wild relative of a farmed species that is not itself domesticated or farmed, which is Nature own subject rather than Agriculture own.
