A farm machine that chops forage crops such as grass, maize and hay into small pieces for silage rather than for grain or fibre. A cutterhead drum or flywheel fitted with knives chops the crop and blows it out through a chute into a following wagon; the chopped material is then packed into silos or bags and fermented into livestock feed.
