Pygmy Goat

Pygmy Goat is a small goat breed descended from West African dwarf goat stock, native originally to the Cameroon region of West Africa, distinguished by its short stature, stocky build and rounded body compared to standard-sized goat breeds. It was exported from Africa to zoos in Europe and North America in the mid twentieth century and from there entered the hobby farm and pet market, where its small size and gentle temperament made it a popular companion animal rather than a large-scale dairy or meat producer. Pygmy goats are still milked on a small scale by some keepers, producing a rich, high-butterfat milk in modest quantities, but the breed is kept today mainly as a pet and show animal on small farms and in petting zoos. It comes in a range of solid and patterned coat colors accepted by breed registries.
