Rhizoctonia theobromae

Rhizoctonia theobromae is a basidiomycete fungus in the family Ceratobasidiaceae and order Cantharellales, first described in 1971 as Oncobasidium theobromae before being reclassified under its current name in 2013. Tropical to subtropical in distribution, it occurs across Asia and Melanesia and produces thin, effused, web-like fruiting bodies. Its primary known role is as the cause of vascular-streak dieback of cocoa, Theobroma cacao, making it a significant concern for cocoa cultivation in the regions where it is found.
