Exobasidium vexans

Exobasidium vexans is a fungal pathogen that causes tea blister blight, a destructive leaf disease of tea plants, Camellia sinensis. Infection produces yellow translucent spots on young leaves that develop into blister-like lesions on the underside, and the fungus can complete its life cycle in as little as eleven days under the humid, high-elevation conditions typical of Asian tea-growing regions. It is regarded as the most economically significant tea pathogen in many producing countries, capable of causing yield losses of up to fifty percent where it is not controlled, and no fully resistant tea cultivar has yet been identified.
