Stigmatomycosis

Stigmatomycosis is a fungal disease that occurs on a number of crops, including cotton, soybean, pecan, pomegranate, citrus and pistachio. It has been reported on pistachio in Greece, Iran and Russia, and is a frequent problem in California pistachio orchards that are severely infested by hemipteran insects; a 1989 survey in California found fruit with stigmatomycosis in 90 percent of samples collected from late June to mid September across all the growing areas surveyed.
