Pleospora herbarum

Pleospora herbarum is a fungus in the family Pleosporaceae, first described in 1801 by Christian Hendrik Persoon as Sphaeria herbarum. It acts as a plant pathogen with a broad host range that includes alfalfa, apples, asparagus, tomatoes, citrus and chickpeas, and it has a cosmopolitan distribution across temperate and subtropical regions. Its long history under more than thirty historical synonyms reflects its recognition as an economically significant pathogen across many host plants and regions.
