Peronospora arborescens

Peronospora arborescens is a plant pathogen that causes downy mildew on the leaves of Papaver (poppy) species. It has economic importance on Papaver somniferum grown as an oilseed crop, including in central and eastern Europe, and is managed through sanitation, crop rotation, the use of clean seed and fungicide sprays applied to the foliage. Other species of Peronospora also occur on Papaver, including Peronospora argemones, Peronospora cristata and Peronospora papaveris-pilosi.
