Tree, vine and other perennial crops grown for a sweet, fleshy fruit eaten fresh or processed: apple, banana, mango, grape, orange, papaya, pineapple, strawberry, avocado, breadfruit, date palm and plantain. Belongs here: a crop whose harvested product is a sweet or savory fleshy fruit from a perennial plant, typically eaten out of hand or lightly processed. Does not belong here: a melon, which FAO groups with vegetables rather than fruit and which this atlas holds under Vegetables and Melons, or a crop grown for oil pressed from its fruit, such as oil palm or olive, held under Oilcrops.
