All Forage Crops

Crops grown to feed livestock rather than people: alfalfa, the one forage legume this atlas carries so far. Kept as its own honest single-member heading rather than folded into Pulses, since a forage crop is grown and harvested for animal feed, a genuinely different use from a crop whose dry seed is eaten by people. Belongs here: a crop grown chiefly as animal feed. Does not belong here: a crop grown for human food that also sometimes feeds livestock as a byproduct, which stays under its own commodity group.
