Frank J. Stevenson (August 2, 1922 to May 29, 2015) was an American soil scientist who taught at the University of Illinois from his early career until retiring as professor in 1990. He was among the first scientists to map the organic materials in soil and their relationship to humic substances, work that benefited agricultural practice broadly. Together with Morris Schnitzer, he received the Wolf Prize in Agriculture in 1995 and was made an honorary member of the International Humic Substances Society.
