Morris Schnitzer, born 1922, is a Canadian soil scientist recognized for his pioneering contributions to understanding the chemistry of soil organic matter and its application to agriculture. His research helped establish how humic substances and other organic compounds in soil influence fertility and crop production, work that shaped modern soil chemistry as an agricultural discipline. In 1995 he shared the Wolf Prize in Agriculture with Frank J. Stevenson of the United States for these contributions.
