Ranbir Singh Kanwar was an Indian plant breeder and agronomist who helped usher in the Green Revolution in India. He obtained his PhD from Ohio State University under a joint Indo-US development program. His major contribution was in breeding sugarcane varieties that yielded higher sugar and matured early; his most notable variety, Co.J. 64, revived the dwindling sugar industry in North India in the 1970s.
