Gene Ezia Robinson is an American entomologist, born in 1955, who directs the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He pioneered the application of genomics to the study of social behavior, led efforts to sequence the honey bee genome, and has shown how genes, hormones and neurochemicals interact to regulate behavior within honey bee colonies and social insects more broadly.
