Leif Andersson, born in 1954, is a Swedish animal geneticist and professor of functional genomics at Uppsala University. His research examines what the genomes of domestic pigs, horses and chickens reveal about the history of domestication, and his team mapped the pig genome in 2012; he has also studied the genetics of white coat color in horses. He was inducted into the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 2002, elected to the American Philosophical Society in 2017, and shared the Wolf Prize in Agriculture in 2014 with Jorge Dubcovsky.
