Tytus Sylwester Woyciechowski, born December 31, 1808, and died March 23, 1879, was a Polish political activist, agriculturalist and patron of art, remembered today chiefly as an early friend, and possible lover, of the composer Frederic Chopin. In his later life he devoted himself to farming innovation on his inherited estate at Poturzyn, pioneering the introduction of crop rotation in Poland and establishing one of the country's first sugar factories in 1847, contributions that helped modernize Polish agricultural practice in the nineteenth century.
