Vijaipal Singh, born 1945 in Narsan Kalan in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district, is an Indian agricultural scientist specializing in rice genetics and breeding. He joined the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi as a research assistant in 1968 and retired as a professor in its Division of Genetics, and he is known for developing Pusa Basmati 1121, one of the most widely grown Basmati rice varieties. He received the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor, in 2012.
