Khem Singh Gill was an Indian geneticist and plant breeder who contributed to India's Green Revolution through his work developing improved varieties of wheat, linseed and sesame. Working alongside Norman Borlaug during the 1960s on new high-yielding wheat varieties, he later extended his research to the genetic improvement of pearl millet, barley and triticale, and as vice chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University from 1990 to 1993 he built its Department of Plant Breeding into a recognized center of excellence and led the state's wheat improvement programs.
