Trudy Frances Charlene Mackay is a geneticist, born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada in 1952, who directs Clemson University's Center for Human Genetics and is a Fellow of the Royal Society. Her research uses the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as a model to study how natural genetic variation and mutation shape quantitative traits, behavioral, physiological and life history alike, and she is credited with establishing the Drosophila Genetic Reference Panel, a resource that has become a standard tool for studying the genetics of complex traits. She co-authored the widely used textbook Introduction to Quantitative Genetics.
