David A. Brodie

David Arthur Brodie, born July 28, 1867, in Peterborough, Ontario, and died December 29, 1951, in Avon Park, Florida, was a Canadian-born American agriculturalist who relocated to Oregon with his family in 1883. He completed studies at Oregon State Normal School in 1894 and graduated from Washington Agricultural College and School of Science, now Washington State University, in 1898, where he became an assistant professor, and he later worked for the United States Department of Agriculture. He held the standard author abbreviation Brodie in botanical naming and also served for one season in 1896 as head football coach at Washington Agricultural, compiling a record of two wins, no losses and one tie.
