Charles Vancouver Piper, born June 16, 1867, in Victoria, British Columbia, and died February 11, 1926, was an American botanist and agriculturalist who spent his career at the United States Department of Agriculture, where he established authoritative guides to the flora of the northwestern United States and pioneered soybean research. He co-authored the influential 1923 monograph The Soybean, helping establish soybeans as a major American crop, was a founding member and later president of the American Society of Agronomy, and chaired the Green Section of the United States Golf Association.
