Robert F. Chandler Jr. (1907 to 1999) was an American horticulturalist and the founding director of the International Rice Research Institute. He later became the first director general of the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center, which became the World Vegetable Center, and in 1988 he was awarded the World Food Prize for his leadership in building agricultural research capacity at both institutes.
